Fostering a Love for Reading and Learning
Hunter Wohler's love for sports and reading started at a young age, and he's eager to share that passion with the kids in his hometown. Whether it was diving into sports-themed books or exploring the magical worlds of the "Magic Tree House" series, Wohler's early experiences with literature laid the foundation for his lifelong love of learning. Now, as a role model for the children of Muskego, Wohler is using his visits to the local library to encourage them to pick up a book and explore their own interests."It's awesome," Wohler says. "I love it. I love coming back here and just spending time with the kids, especially. We were all there at some point, and without people to look up to and guide me along the way, I wouldn't be where I am. So if I can be that for some of these kids, it's a blessing."Giving Back to the Community That Shaped Him
Wohler's commitment to his community extends far beyond his visits to the library. As a Muskego native, he understands the importance of giving back to the place that has supported him throughout his journey. Recently, Wohler hosted a fundraising event called "Hunter's Huddle of Hope" at a local bar and grill, raising money to support underprivileged children in the area."Born and raised here," Wohler says. "And so when I can come back and just be with the kids and interact with them and just hang out in the hometown? I'm going to say yes to that every day."Balancing Busy Schedules and Prioritizing Community Engagement
Despite his demanding schedule as a student-athlete, Wohler makes it a priority to carve out time to engage with the Muskego community. He acknowledges that it's not always easy, but he's committed to making the most of every opportunity he has to connect with the kids and families who have supported him throughout his life."I don't get to come back here as often as you would think, just because of how busy we are," Wohler says. "But every time I get the opportunity? I'm going to take it of course. And I don't get to do stuff like this as much as I'd like to. You know, I would like more opportunities to come and hang out."Inspiring the Next Generation of Badgers and Community Leaders
Wohler's dedication to his community and his willingness to serve as a role model for the children of Muskego are a testament to his character and his commitment to making a positive impact. By sharing his experiences, encouraging a love for learning, and providing support to those in need, Wohler is not only inspiring the next generation of Badgers but also shaping the future leaders of his hometown. As Wohler prepares to head off to training camp with the Badgers, he knows that his work in the community is far from over. He's determined to continue using his platform to make a difference, one interaction at a time, and to inspire the young people of Muskego to chase their dreams and reach their full potential.
